The new Arts Cochrane website just went live last night! I'm excited to make this website available to the artists of Cochrane and the surrounding area.
Cochrane is a special place for me and as an artist I find much here to enjoy. Not just the amazing scenery, which gives me pleasure on a daily basis, but also in the fact that Cochrane is so rich in creative people.
Not long after I first came to Cochrane over twenty years ago, I was given the opportunity to write an Arts & Crafts column in the local paper (Cochrane This Week). I am so glad I took that opportunity because of the people I met through that and because of what so many of those people accomplished.
It was a question from one reader that lead to the creation of the Cochrane Artisans Guild which ran for a number of years.
The column also lead to the forming of an Arts Business Group which started the highly successful "See How We Do It" annual event. I can still remember having the worst time trying to get into any of the venues that took part, because there were so many others trying to get in too!
So - I am hoping that this website will be the impetus to get some new and exciting things happening for the arts here in Cochrane - because boy do we have a lot to be proud of here!
